New Deputy Speaker to be chosen in the House of Keys

Follows Daphne Caine's movement into the Council of Ministers

There are just six questions to be answered on the House of Keys agenda paper this morning.

In the first one, Jason Moorhouse asks about a way to petition the government.

But first a Deputy Speaker has to be chosen.

With Daphne Caine becoming Education Minister, her Deputy Speaker role needs filling, therefore nominations will be taken in the sitting.

After that, the Arbory, Castletown and Malew member will ask what consideration CoMin has given to bringing in a mechanism for people to petition the Government. That will be answered by Chief Minister Alfred Cannan.

Other inquiries include: why pension forecasts have been delayed, help available after complications with pelvic mesh implants, disc zone boundaries around Nobles Park and when the heat in government buildings is switched on and off.

Also, the cost of an electricity connection.

Two statements will then follow.

One from David Ashford chair of the committee on the assisted dying bill and one from DEFA Minister Clare Barber; a personal statement on the Meat Plant and transfer of ownership.

You can follow full coverage of the sitting on Manx Radio's AM 1368 frequency.
