New faces on Arts Council

There are some new faces on the Isle of Man's Arts Council.

Dr Breesha Maddrell is well known on the Manx Music scene as a performer and through her work with the Yn Chruinnaght Festival.

She's currently a development officer with the Manx Heritage Foundation and has already served on the Council for four years.

Philip Chadwick, an eminent architect and partner with Savage & Chadwick, was chairman of the Sayle Gallery during its transition to its new location in the Villa Colonnade, while businessman David Wertheim was instrumental in bringing the successful 'Forced Journeys' exhibition to the Sayle Gallery.

Manx Radio presenter Alex Brindley, who's been passionate about theatre and music for many years, will also sit on the Council.

He says he believes the arts can have a vital influence on the Island's young people.

The new members will serve a four year period from October 1.
