New license for Castletown public toilets

Facilities previously cleaned and maintained by the local authority

The Department of Infrastructure has given Castletown Commissioners a 12 month license to operate a block of public toilets.

It follows a dispute between the two authorities over the operation of the Back Hope Street facilities which started last year.

Minister Chris Thomas says he hopes 'support' can be given to the commissioners to help with the upkeep.

He says the resolution shows that his department is 'absolutely serious' about working with local authorities:
