Expanded 12-day programme getting underway this weekend
The expanded programme for this year's Manx Grand Prix is coming as a 'relief' to supporters of the event.
The 2025 meeting will run parallel to the Classic TT on the Snaefell Mountain Course from this Sunday (17 August) to the 29 August.
Over the last three years, the MGP has operated on a shorter nine-day format which at times came in for criticism from fans.
Chairman of the MGP Supporters Club, Allan Brew says last year's races - which were heavily disrupted by poor weather - highlighted 'deficiencies' in the previous setup:
Elsewhere, the organisers of the MGP say they want to turn it into a 'must-see' event on Island.
The Manx Motor Cycle Club (MMCC) has already welcomed the chance to move to a longer schedule and would like to offer more events around the racing in the future.
When asked previously about the shorter format, MMCC Chair, John McBride argued at the time that 'more personnel' - including marshals and medics - would be needed to make it a longer meeting.
This week he was asked by Manx Radio if that has been achieved for 2025 and what they hope to do to grow MGP popularity going forward:
The first day of this year's Manx Grand Prix will be on Sunday, 17 August for the first session of MGP qualifying.
Roads around the course are currently scheduled to close on that day from 12.45pm and reopen no later than 6pm.
