Janet Thommeny elected unanimously
The new mayor of Douglas says she's keen to inspire 'civic pride'.
Janet Thommeny was elected unanimously at Douglas Council's annual meeting yesterday (11 May).
She'll serve until May 2023.
Council leader Claire Wells described her colleague as a 'hardworking, honest, caring member of the community’ and someone whose friendship and valued opinions could be relied upon.
Three charities have been selected for the charity appeal – Isle Listen, Heroes on the Water and the Search and Rescue Dog Association Isle of Man.
Mayor Thommeny told Manx Radio she wants to make a difference:
Man had 'sweetie shop' of drugs disguised as a candle
'Power of veto' might help get difficult decisions through, says chief minister
Gas prices to remain unchanged for 2026
Ramsey Commissioners not adding 'optional' one percent increase to social housing rents
