The Island’s first ever survey of horse mussels has been a success, with researchers leaving a marker buoy at a bank off the Point of Ayre.
Marine wildlife specialists will be looking at video footage taken by divers to find out how the rare shellfish are doing.
The survey was carried out on behalf of the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry last week.
Spokeswoman Fiona Gell says, with all the data gathered, the survey is now moving into a second phase:
