New sepsis charity's official launch

Weekend stage set for group

A newly registered charity is having its official launch this weekend on Douglas promenade.

Mannin Sepsis was created by Dee Struthers and Alison Thomas to raise awareness of the symptoms of the deadly condition, and support sufferers.

Mrs Struthers' daughter Ann died from sepsis, as doctors only recognised the symptoms late on.

Ms Thomas narrowly survived having the condition.

Brought together by their experiences, the two started Mannin Sepsis, which will have a stall with leaflets and other merchandise on display in the capital on Saturday.

A special 'sepsis challenge', motorbike shows, and a band will also be there for the occasion - Mrs Struthers says now they're official, the group can finally 'get on with it'.
