New term disruption for parents in Ballasalla

Continuing work on the major new housing project at Clagh Vane in Ballasalla is likely to cause headaches for parents taking their children to school in the village this morning (Tuesday), as the new academic year begins.

The school says it is liaising closely with contractors to ensure access and parking is available.

Headteacher Lyn Ashworth says they are doing everything possible to minimise disruption.

But she says contractors' vehicles will be parked on the main estate road, and parents should exercise extreme caution when dropping off and turning outside the main gates.

Access for all pedestrians and vehicles from the south is via the main junction to the estate on Douglas Road.

New car parking areas within the estate can be used by parents in the morning and afternoon.

The advice from the school is be vigilant and patient, and take note of diversion signs, for roads and pavements.
