New transmitter for west of Island

If you’re listening in the west of the Island, you should be hearing us more clearly.

Manx Radio has launched a new transmitter to serve Peel and the Patrick area.

Whilst those in the west have been able to receive Manx Radio for many years, in places the signal has been very poor and the reception far from ideal.

The new transmitter, on Peel Hill, was switched on last week and tests have shown there's been a huge improvement.

Designed and installed by in-house Manx Radio staff, the transmitter was funded through the existing Home Affairs transmitter operations budget. The Manx Radio transmission network is owned and paid for by the department, as agreed by Tynwald. Managing director of Manx Radio, Anthony Pugh, is delighted loyal listeners in the west are now better served and hopes the clearer signal will encourage others to tune in.
