Nine incidents dealt with by fire service during Monday

People reminded to take extra care during warm weather

The Island's Fire and Rescue Service says it dealt with nine separate incidents during yesterday (6 June).

Over half of those incidents were small outside fires such as bins and wildland fires.

The fire service says whilst these cases were relatively small, each has the potential to tie up resources and prevent crews from attending other life-threatening incidents.

Crews are reminding people with the TT fortnight in full swing and the recent warm weather, fires involving grass, bracken and heather can develop quickly and get out of control.

As a result, firefighters are urging residents and visitors to take extra care out in the countryside and make sure smoking materials, campfires or barbecues are properly extinguished.
