Litterpickers to be given to schools around Island
Beach Buddies founder Bill Dale says a 9 year old boy is an inspiration for the charity - and has encouraged them to bring forward a new school initiative.
Harry Higgins wanted a litter picker for Christmas so he could tackle rubbish in parks and on footpaths close to his home.
Harry asked Santa for the picker and gloves after Beach Buddies visited his school in Sulby to tell students about the charity's work.
Bill says this is exactly what the school visits are designed to do and he now aims to accelerate plans to give out litter pickers to schools all over the Island.
However, he stresses that any children wanting to follow Harry's example should stick to adult-supervised events in parks, footpaths and glens and keep away from roads and streets.
The Buddies will be launching a new branch of operations to include plantations, hiking trails, mountain tracks and parks in January.
