No compensation for regeneration losses

Minister clarifies position in Keys

No compensation can be offered to businesses affected by re-generation work around the Island.

Economic Development Minister Laurence Skelly clarified his department's position in the House of Keys this morning (Tues)

He was speaking in reply to a question from Arbory, Malew and Castletown MHK Jason Moorhouse who wanted to know what types of support is available for businesses in localities affected by re-generation projects before, during and after development takes place.

Mr Skelly told the House that the costs of regeneration had to be balanced against the benefits which can be reaped by local businesses, but his department could not offer compensation to those who may be adversely affected whilst working was taking place.
