No cruise ships in Port Erin since June 2017

Figures published after £3,000 spent on security gates in the port

Just one cruise ship has visited Port Erin in the last six years, despite £3,000 having recently been spent on security gates in the port for cruise visitors.

Rushen MHK Dr Michelle Haywood recently questioned whether the spend was necessary, and has since submitted a written question seeking figures on vessels stopping in the southern village in the last five years.

In response, the Department for Enterprise has confirmed its records show the last vessel to be moored in Port Erin was in June 2017, when more than half of the passengers on board chose not to take a shore excursion.

Visit Isle of Man recently published the cruise schedule for 2023, confirming no ships are expected to visit Port Erin this year.
