No disciplinary action yet over runway oversight

No action has so far been taken against those in the Treasury responsible for an oversight which has cost the Manx taxpayer £2.2 million.

The runway extension at Isle of Man Airport is to be paid for in Euros and the problem arose when the currency wasn't bought when it was at a favourable price.

In the House of Keys today, East Douglas MHK and Treasury member Phil Braidwood said appropriate action would be taken if it was felt necessary (play attached audio file):

Mr Braidwood was answering on behalf of the minister, Allan Bell, who has been in Germany signing a tax information agreement.
