'No increase in pay for Tynwald members'

Committee produces review principles

The pay bill of Tynwald members should not increase - that's the view of a committee tasked with setting the principles of a review of members' salaries.

The third report of the committee on the Functioning of Tynwald will go before parliament next week, outlining proposals for the role of the Bishop, members' professional development and pay.

The body states any changes to pay should not lead to an increase in overall remuneration. 

It recommends salaries be sufficient to attract a diverse collection of members, are linked to civil services levels, and recognise scrutiny roles.
