Changes subject to Tynwald approval
Manx traders could soon be banned from applying surcharges to payments made using credit or debit cards.
The Office of Fair Trading has agreed the Island will follow the U.K. by making it illegal for businesses to add extra charges when customers pay by card.
Subject to Tynwald approval, the changes will come into effect on the 13th of January, concurrently with the UK.
Director of the OFT is Mike Ball.
He insists traders won't be forced to accept certain methods of payment, but will have to charge the same amount:
'Essential' that school staff recognise the signs of an allergic reaction
'High' risk of wildfires over the next week
'Come From Away' to continue after cast member injured during rehearsal
'Parks in worse state then when I started' says Peel commissioner
