No plans for 'wholesale review' of public service

Confirmation from Cannan after concerns over headcount

There are no plans in place for a 'wholesale review' of the Isle of Man's public service.

That's according to the chief minister who says there are already mechanisms in place to control headcount and payroll costs.

The question was raised by Middle MHK Stu Peters in the House of Keys who was concerned that employee numbers are rising.

Alfred Cannan said under the new 'Our Island Plan' departments would be required to submit their annual plans for debate which would bring more transparency:
