OFT says many retailers already refuse to sell them to minors

The Isle of Man currently doesn't have a legal requirement to age restrict the sale of energy drinks.

In England, plans have been announced to ban anyone under the age of 16 from buying the products.

While supermarkets across the British Isles already enforce voluntary restrictions, the wider move hopes to prevent obesity in up to 40,000 children

A spokesperson for the Island's Office of Fair Trading says many retailers on the Isle of Man already have a self-imposed ban on the sale of energy drinks to under-16’s.
