"No political pressure to push right-to-buy policy forward" on IoM

Housing and Community Board chair says public sector homes shouldn't be sold off

Enabling people to eventually purchase the public sector property they are renting has been discussed, however, there's been no 'strong' political pressure to push it forward.

That's according to the chair of the Housing and Community Board who was live on Manx Radio's Mannin Line today.

UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, is considering a similar scheme - something initially launched by Margaret Thatcher.

Chris Thomas says the view on the Island has always been that there are 6,500 public sector properties that should be kept in the public sector rather than being sold off.

He says the policy has been considered but there's been no one pushing for it:
