'No victors' in battle for Syria

Island NGO responds to conflict

A local human rights advocate has warned 'there can be no victors' as conflict continues to escalate in Syria.

Andrew Newton from the Isle of Man branch of the United Nations Association has condemned the alleged use of chemical weapons by the Assad regime, but added it is 'sad' to see the UK, US and France using military force in the country.

In a statement, Mr Newton highlights the complexity of the power struggle in Syria, and restates his organisation's aim to bring a 'non-violent resolution' to wars around the world.

Mr Newton concludes by saying he hopes 'all actors can swiftly return to peaceful negotiations to resolve this devastating conflict'.
