No war memorials debate before October

The future of the Isle of Man's war memorials will be discussed later this year after a group working to preserve them completes a consultation exercise.

In Tynwald yesterday, Chief Minister Tony Brown (pictured) said the Preservation of War Memorials working group was asking for comments about the commemorative landmarks and their care.

The closing date for the consultation period is next month, and Mr Brown said the Council of Ministers would consider the group’s report in September.

And that, he said, meant there would be no report to Tynwald until October at the earliest:
