Decision made to reduce Emergency Department demand
Nobles Hospital is asking all patients with minor injuries to go to Ramsey Cottage Hospital Minor Injuries Unit.
This includes:
- Sprains and fractures
- Cuts
- Burns and scalds
- Skin and wound infections, including abscesses
- Broken bones
- Nosebleeds
- Foreign bodies in eyes, nose, ears or skin
- Minor neck and back injuries
- Rashes
- Minor illnesses
The unit has expanded X ray department hours and the MIU is also able to issue emergency contraception.
It's hoped these measures will help reduce the demand on the Nobles Emergency Department.
