The health minister's admitted Noble's Hospital is currently operating on a bed capacity that exceeds the industry-recognised 'safe levels'.
Claire Christian's been responding to an urgent Tynwald question after the Medical Staff Committee highlighted a 'critical shortfall' in inpatient capacity, claiming it posed a direct risk to people's lives.
Ms Christian says bed capacity at the hospital was 314 when it first opened in 2003, but in 2025 had reduced to 233.
But she insists her department is committed to addressing the concerns raised by doctors:
