Number 74 back in service

You’ll be able to take a trip down memory lane as part of the Tynwald celebrations later today (Monday).

A restored vintage bus will be adding some nostalgic style to public transport when it returns to service.

The no.2 Leyland Titan bus first went into service on the Island on April the 16th, 1949, and was widely known as the Number 74 when it was re-numbered in 1968.

It was withdrawn from service in 1973, having travelled over half a million miles, and sold to a UK dealer.

It was housed in St Helen's Transport Museum until it returned to the Island in 1995.

The bus will be on display in the Tynwald Hill car park at St John's and a member of Isle of Man Transport will be on hand to welcome the public on board.
