Number of new homes built revealed

Figures released in answer to Tynwald question

One hundred and eighteen new local authority houses have been built in the Isle of Man over the last five years (2013-2017 inclusive).

In addition, 97 replacement properties have gone up over the same period.

There were 12 new homes and 35 replacement ones put up by the Department of Infrastructure over the same period.

And 78 new fixed scheme first-time buyer homes went up.

The private sector built 524 houses between 2013 and 2016.

The private sector figures for last year are not yet available, according to the DoI, which gave the figures in response to a Tynwald question for written answer from Ramsey MHK Lawrie Hooper.
