Obama faces many tough challenges

As change and a new dawn of leadership are promised by United States president elect Barack Obama, a local academic has been reflecting on what he calls "a fascinating campaign".

Deputy principal of the Isle of Man College Professor Ronald Barr, a lecturer in American and British history, says there’s little surprise Obama snatched the key battleground states from John McCain to become the country's first black president.

On Mandate this morning, Professor Barr told Manx Radio it was a remarkable victory, but he also warned tough times lay ahead:
