OECD recognises Island's move to tax transparency

 

A top tax rating will boost the Island’s reputation around the world.

That’s the hope of the Manx government after it received the top award for compliance from the Organisation for Economic Co Operation and Development, OECD.

The body's Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes rated 120 countries but named only 18 nations as fully compliant for its tax transparency.

Chief Minister Allan Bell believes the tide in the way the Island is regarded started to turn a few months ago when Prime Minister David Cameron said it was unfair to describe the Island as a tax haven:
