Offshore wind power company to set up office on Isle of Man

Ørsted Isle of Man Wind Farm Development Team moving to Athol Street

An offshore wind power company is setting up office on the Isle of Man, with a view to developing the Island's first offshore wind farm.

Danish firm Ørsted has announced today its Isle of Man Wind Farm Development Team will be moving into Athol Street, Douglas, to focus on renewable energy projects in the Irish Sea.

The proposed wind farm is progressing through the early stages of development after Ørsted and the government signed an Agreement for Lease at the end of 2015, allowing for investigations of an agreed area off the coast of Maughold.

John Galloway, Ørsted's Development Director for the offshore wind farm, says 'The company will continue to work hard with local stakeholders in the coming months and years to design a project that truly supports the Isle of Man Government’s own net zero ambitions.'

He spoke to Manx Radio's John Moss:
