Callister calls for Quirk to resign
A local authority member has accused the chairman of the Office of Fair Trading of hypocrisy, after David Quirk called for a ministerial resignation.
Mr Quirk said Infrastructure Minister Phil Gawne should step down after the Public Accounts Committee found his department ignored financial regulations over silt dredging in Peel harbour.
But Onchan commissioner Rob Callister says Mr Quirk is in no position to criticise after the OFT’s handling of regulating Manx Gas.
And he says if resignations are needed, Mr Quirk should be first to go:
DoI to move to monthly dredging in order to protect harbour depth
