OFT 'should act' over flight delays

Airlines slow to pay out, claims group

TravelWatch is calling on the Island's Office of Fair Trading to put pressure on airlines over compensation for delayed flights.

Passengers are entitled to compensation when flights are delayed for more than three hours, in almost all circumstances.

TravelWatch says an automatic payout should be triggered - but many Manx travellers have difficulty making claims.

The comments come after publication this week of airlines' punctuality records.

Flybe scored well in both the global and European categories, but easyJet was among the least punctual of the low cost carriers.

Details of how to claim are on the UK Citizens Advice website: http://bit.ly/1nwwZvp

TravelWatch spokesman Terry Liddiard says the OFT should step in as the compensation system is not working as it should:
