Operations cancelled at Noble's Hospital

Manx Care blames lack of beds after increase in patients

Operations are being cancelled at Noble's Hospital due to an 'increase in patients' who need treatment.

Manx Care has confirmed a number of elective orthopaedic procedures have been shelved due to a lack of beds.

It's blamed it on a rise in people attending the Emergency Department who were then admitted for further treatment.

Manx Care has told Manx Radio: "It's important that we care for patients in a bed that's appropriate for their clinical needs and so this means that we've had to care for them on the ward normally used to look after patients having elective day surgery.

"As a consequence this has led to the cancellation of some elective orthopaedic procedures.

"We're working with all of the patients affected by this to reschedule their surgery as soon as this can be done."
