Organiser backs practice sessions decision

One of the men behind the inaugural TTXGP has spoken of his disappointment at the scrapping of plans for extra practicing for the event, in the face of severe criticism from marshals, medics and the public.

It means eight Manx Grand Prix riders won't be able to take part in the 'clean emissions' race, because they won't have the chance to complete the necessary qualifying time on the circuit.

Azhar Hussain says efforts are now being made to replace those competitors, to ensure there is a full grid on June 12, but he is stressing he fully supports the decision taken by the organisers (play attached audio file):

The TTXGP, 'The green TT', will be the first event of its kind, and will be contested by 24 electrically powered motorbikes over one timed lap of the TT course, from 10.45am on Senior Race Day.

The closing date for entries is Friday, May 29, a fortnight before the event.
