Final total of funds still being calculated

This year's Fashion For Life event looks set to have smashed the previous fundraising record.

The 11th iteration of the show was held at the Villa Marina on Friday (24 October).

Organised by Isle of Man Breast Care and Breast Cancer NOW, the night sees breast cancer survivors take to the catwalk in clothes provided by M&S.

Some of the models have walked the catwalk from the very first show, and this year saw many new participants taking part.

The final total of funds raised is still being calculated, but it's expected to have topped £25,000 - a record for the night.

This year marked the first since charity stalwart Geoff Corkish passed away.

In a statement, organisers said: "Our lovely Geoff was sorely missed this year, but the legend Dot Tilbury carried on with the same raucous, racy and hilarious performance - with David Artus and Gary Chatel in tow.

"I’m sure Geoff was with us all on the stage that night!

"There was also a huge raffle with the most amazing prizes raising over £9,500 which was truly incredible, our heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated a superb prize.

"After the draw of the raffle, three very kind members of the audience unexpectedly came up on stage and donated a very generous £7k in total!"

They added: "IOM Breast Care and Breast Cancer Now IOM would like to sincerely thank our wonderful sponsors Flutter International, Manx Telecom, RHS Jewellers, Transmann, and GEM Electrical along with Heron & Brearley who generously donated a selection of fine wines for the tables.

"Our final total of funds raised are not yet known but we hope to have raised over £25k + which would be our best amount to date.

"Huge thanks to Manx Radio for all their support on the run up to the event, we couldn’t have done it without our you all."
