Overnight rain leads to flooding on Island roads

Heavy rain overnight has led to flooded roads in places around the Island this morning (Fri)

Several minor roads remain closed.

They are the road past the Campsite to the Beach. at Glen Wyllin, Kirk Michael . . . Glen Mooar, Kirk Michael - from the Coast Road to the Beach. . . . . Balleira Road, Kirk Michael .  . from the Sewage Works to the Beach. . . and Sulby Glen/Tholt-y-Will Road, Sulby . . .from the Sulby Claddaghs to the Bungalow. Their condition will be reviewed later this morning.

The A3 from Ballacraine to Douglas Road Corner, Kirk Michael has what's described as substantial amounts of surface water in places . . .  workers are in the road around Glen Helen area dealing with the flooding. There are also large amounts of water on the A3 Ballacraine to Lower Foxdale . . . the A2 Whitebridge to Liverpool Arms . . . Patrick Road, near Close Leece . . . and Fairway Drive . . Ramsey.

Police say all those roads remain open and are passable with care.

A number of roads around the Island have suffered from extensive flooding overnight, and although DOI teams have worked through the night, several are still badly affected.

There is excess water on most of the Island's roads.

Police are asking motorists to drive to the conditions and take heed of the warning signs that have been put out.
