Pair to stand trial for drugs and money laundering offences

Charges include possessing diazepam and criminal property

Two Douglas men accused of drugs and money-laundering offences have been committed to stand trial.

Keith Andre Anthony Bernard of Albany Road in Douglas and David John Alsop of Ballacottier Meadow appeared at Douglas Courthouse this week.

Fifty-two-year-old Mr Alsop faces one charge of possessing cannabis and four charges of acquiring, using or possessing criminal property.

Meanwhile, 53-year-old Mr Bernard faces one charge of possessing diazepam, one of possessing criminal property, one of transferring it.

The duo are said to have committed the offences in May last year.

Both were granted bail – they’ll appear at the Court of Genera Gaol Delivery later this year.

A third man, 21-year-old Jamie Mark Smith of Queens Promenade in Douglas, is accused of possessing criminal property and transferring criminal property.

He was granted bail and will appear for committal on 19 February.
