Magistrates on the Isle of Man have called on politicians to introduce legislation to allow them to implement court orders for parents of juvenile offenders.
Parenting Orders, and Parenting Bind Over Orders, are used in the United Kingdom – they’re designed to give support and guidance when a young person offends:
They’re not currently available on the Isle of Man and would require legislative change to bring them in as an option available to the courts.
