Parliamentary proceedings to be broadcast online

From next year the Manx public will be have full access to the sound but not sight of the national parliament's proceedings - online.

This week the House of Keys and Legislative Council voted in favour of web-casting the full sittings of both houses, as well as Tynwald and parliamentary scrutiny committees.

Live broadcasts via the web will also be available on a 'listen-again' basis.

At present Manx Radio broadcasts the entire proceedings of Tynwald live on AM but only Keys Question Time.

The Positive Action Group has lobbied for video broadcasts of sittings.

PAG's Roger Tomlinson welcomes the new audio service, in place from late January 2014.

He says the move secures greater access to the political scene for everyone:
