MHK pleased with awareness progress
An Onchan MHK is calling for routine screening for diabetes to be made more widely available - because too many patients don't like going to the doctors.
Julie Edge raised the issue in Tynwald last month.
Diabetes affects about one in sixteen people in the British Isles, which means as many as 5,000 Islanders live with the condition.
Research into Type 2 Diabetes - the most common form of the disease - has found that it can be reversable with drastic changes in diet.
Ms Edge says raising awareness is key:
Vote on Castle Rushen High School funding 'very unlikely' before election
Ramsey Commissioners to host public meeting about cottage hospital
DfE provided more than £250,000 to MT to assist with below ground fibre installations
Man given suspended sentence after importing 2kg of cannabis to Island
