Fencing put up ahead of new security measures
Peel breakwater is closing to the public this morning, and will stay closed until 31 May.
It's part of new security measures at the Island's harbours, ahead of the start of the King Scallop season on Sunday (1 Nov).
Fencing is being put up from eight o'clock this morning, just beyond the kiosk, to create a secure area.
Fishing crews from off-Island are allowed to use the harbours in Peel and Douglas, with Ramsey and Port St Mary only open to local boats.
Government has announced a number of new safety measures, with fines of up to £10,000 and jail time for those who break the rules.
A statement said all 80 licensed crews have been informed of the changes, that "follow consultation with the industry and public health."
