Clerk Derek Sewell says town relies on event to 'attract' tourists

The Clerk of Peel Commissioners has confirmed it will undertake a 'review' of this year's Peel Day.

It follows a number of complaints on social media which claim the town was 'empty' and didn't bring people to the traders on Michael Street.

Derek Sewell says the town relies on the event to 'attract' visitors to spend in the local shops and hospitality businesses - but admits it is difficult when the racing is on.

He adds concerns raised by residents will be considered in the review, and believes Peel has been 'busier' during practice week.
