Peel 'doesn't want to look like everywhere else', says commissioner

More than 100 go to public meeting on Michael Street plans

Commissioners in Peel are aiming to give planners feedback by Friday on government plans to reconstruct Michael Street.

More than 100 people went to a meeting arranged by the local authority last night, to gauge public opinion on the proposals.

The Department of Infrastructure wants to rebuild the street with granite paving and green spaces.

As a statutory consultee, the local authority is asked for its view on planning applications.

Hazel Hannan was one of the Peel Commissioners at the meeting.

She says many in the town are cautious of agreeing to new schemes after the unpopular redevelopment of Market Square:
