Peel RNLI welcomes new volunteer

The 18-year-old has been a long term supporter of the charity

Peel Lifeboat Station has welcomed Jordan Davies as an official RNLI volunteer crew member.

The 18-year-old has been a long-time supporter of the charity.

Having been inspired to volunteer by the TV series Saving Lives at Sea when aged just 12, he has waited six years to be able to be a full crew volunteer. 

In that time, the station said he has helped with community events and avidly observed lifeboat operations in and around sunset city.

Jordan said: "Joining the crew means I can learn, contribute, and be part of this essential charity which saves lives at sea.

"I’d love to train my way up to being a coxswain one day, but for now, I’m excited to join the crew, learn everything I can and be a part of this dedicated team at Peel Lifeboat Station."

Paul Thompson, lifeboat operations manager at Peel RNLI, shared his enthusiasm for Jordan’s officially joining the team saying his commitment over the last six years has been 'nothing short of inspiring'. 

Paul added: "His passion and determination remind us that the future of volunteering is bright. We were delighted to not only wish him a very happy 18th birthday, but to also welcome him as an official member of our crew.

"We hope Jordan’s journey inspires other young people to get involved with our charity in the many volunteering opportunities available. Without the dedication of our volunteers, we could not continue to save lives at sea."
