Person rescued from Glen Roy River in Laxey

Warning about entering fast-flowing water issued

A person had to be rescued from the Glen Roy River in Laxey Glen Gardens this morning.

Crews from the village's fire station and a specialist team from Douglas were called out at about 8.10am to reports of a person in distress.

They set up a system to get the casualty out of the fast-flowing water, up a 10ft bank and into the care of the ambulance service.

Crews were in attendance for approximately 60 minutes.

The fire service is reminding people not to drive or wade into moving water if at all possible, especially if it is fast flowing.

It adds moving flood water can sweep you off your feet, even if it is only a few inches deep.
