Peter Padgett passes away

He founded motorcycle business and race team

Tributes are being paid to Peter Padgett who has passed away at the age of 94.

He raced in both the Isle of Man TT and Manx Grand Prix in the 1960s as well as the Southern 100.

In 1958 he founded the Padgett's Motorcycles business with his brother Don in Batley, West Yorkshire before starting a racing team.

His sons, were both accomplished motorcycle racers.

Gary won the Manx Grand Prix but sadly lost his life in a road traffic accident in 1986.

Clive was a British champion at just 19-years-old but suffered a career-ending crash in a race meeting in Belgium and moved on to become team manager.

They've enjoyed TT success with the majority of top names such as Steve Hislop, Ian Hutchinson and John McGuinness.

Many will also remember Don Padgett who ran a motorcycle business in the Isle of Man for a number of decades.

In a statement this morning the family said Peter passed away at home surrounded by his loved ones.
