Phone numbers for key services made free

Noble's Hospital number one of many subject to the change

More than 25 telephone numbers relating to health, housing and finance are now free to call.

The change, a response to the cost of living crisis, was first announced in early November, but a rollout date of later that month was delayed.

Cabinet Office Minister Kate Lord-Brennan says this was due to government working with the Island's telecommunications companies to subsidise the numbers.

People wishing to contact one of the included services can do so using the usual number with no added charge.

A full list of the numbers that are now free to call can be viewed here.

It will cost £400k for one year and ongoing funding will be subject to review of usage and how effective the measure has been.
