Plan to make key route in Castletown one-way for a year

Consultation on Castle Street launched by DoI

Feedback is wanted on making a key route through Castletown one-way for a year.

The Department of Infrastructure has launched a consultation about potentially making the change which would enable building work on Derby House.

If brought in it would mean Castle Street would be one-way for traffic north-bound.

Drivers wanting to get from the harbour to the ancient capital's square would be diverted via the bypass road and Arbory Road.

It's so scaffolding can be put up, blocking some of the highway, restricting two-way traffic.

The diversion would also affect south-bound buses from Douglas.

If you'd like to comment on or object to the proposal you can email highwayregulations.doi@gov.im.

You can also do so by post, where you can request a copy of the plans:

The deadline is on or before Friday, 18 June 2021.
