Plans submitted for 328 new homes in Braddan

Hartford Homes eyes up greenfield site

A planning application has been submitted for 328 new homes in Douglas.

Hartford Homes is hoping to build the properties on a greenfield site, just off Braddan Road, between Kirk Braddan Cemetery and Douglas Rugby Club.

The plans include a primary school, community centre and 68-bed care home - in an area zoned for housing in the Area Plan for the East.

Of the new build properties 82, two and three-bed, properties will be designated 'affordable homes'.

A public consultation on the proposals last year attracted 113 respondents.

Of those 57 people were in favour of the development.

Some people felt it would provide much needed housing near the capital but there was also concern around the impact the estate would have on nearby traffic.

A new access route would have to be built from Braddan Road which Hartford Homes says would have a 'moderate' impact with 'some instances of increased driver delays.'

You can find a link to the full application here.
