Waterfall by the wayside
An historic pub in the west of the Island is due to be demolished to make way for new homes.
Plans have been submitted for the former Waterfall Hotel in Glen Maye.
The Waterfall is thought to have functioned as a public house since the 1940s, with the building dating back to the turn of the century.
Situated in the fine surroundings of Glen Maye just outside Peel, the spot was an enduringly popular one for summer drinkers with its large beer garden.
But since closing down three years ago, and despite numerous attempts to rejuvenate the business, The Waterfall has fallen into a 'bad state of decay' with a damp-ridden interior now deemed to costly to refurbish.
A proposal to knock it down and build four new terraced houses on the site will go ahead pending planning approval.
