A plaque commemorating a shipwreck - that proved to be a catalyst in the formation of the RNLI - will be unveiled in the south of the Island today (Weds).
HMS Racehorse sank 200 years ago resulting in the deaths of its crewmen - which included three men from Castletown.
The event led to Sir William Hillary lobbying the UK Government for a maritime lifesaving organisation.
