Plaques remembering war dead are rediscovered

The committee set up to oversee the preservation of war memorials in the Isle of Man says it's delighted at the discovery of two new plaques commemorating those who lost their lives fighting for their country.

They will be added to the 150 or more monuments dedicated to the Island's war heroes.

Both the memorials were discovered in Ramsey, one at the Poyll Dooey nature reserve and the other at Ballacloan football stadium.

Committee member Roger Christian say memorials sometimes become forgotten, particularly if few people were present at the unveiling, as was the case at Poyll Dooey:
